D.I.Y.
This Tails Dinner Jacket used to belong to my Mum, she loved it and used to wear to all the parties (and on one occasion, she picked up me and my sisters from school-to our mortification!!). Well I'm that much older and wiser and now I own this family heirloom.

Mummy used to hate shoulder pads and would remove them from everything, including this jacket. Little did she know that they'd make a comeback and just as well, cause as try as I would, I just couldn't get past these saggy shoulders and wear it out, so this is what I did...

Got two shoulder pads from the local Haberdashers, black thread and a needle...

Then realised that for my desired effect, I'm gonna have to double up on shoulder pads, so I tacked them togther after sewing the first to the lining of the jacket...

I prefer the jacket already, there was so much space that needed to be filled, but, it looks like I'll be going back to the haberdashers tomorrow to save me from looking lopsided, but it's a job worth doing properly, find out how it looks on me tomorrow....

So we're back and the finished jacket looked like this.....

My mum was so good at looking after clothes, this jacket goes way back to the 80's at least, not sure where it was bought from, label says "made in france"
So here's how I wore it today....

It's a pretty casual way of wearing tails and thats what I liked about this outfit-the juxtaposition, the stripey top is a little je nase quai ode to the jacket's French roots. I have a great idea on how I would wear this jacket for a more evening/clubby do, watch this space xxd
